The cemetery prohibits enclosures of any kind around grave spaces and lots. Glass containers are prohibited as are awnings, display boxes, trellis work or other structures that may inhibit normal cemetery operation. No wooden memorials are allowed except on Memorial Day Weekend. If there are so many items accumulated around a headstone that mowing is not possible, the area will be cleared to allow for lawn maintenance.

If you place flowers or items on graves over Memorial Weekend, please pick them up by Monday, June 6 if you want to keep them, as the staff will start cleaning graves on that date. Although it is illegal for a person to take flowers and items that they did not place on a grave, thefts do often occur, especially after Memorial Day. The cemetery assumes no responsibility for flowers and items left at gravesites.

If you need help with the location of graves, please visit the central directories near the flagpole. The directory for Section 5, located in the southeast corner of the cemetery, is located on the east entrance road, Fir Street. Directories list names of people buried in that section in alphabetical order. Names are listed with row and lot numbers. Hand-held maps will be available at each directory. You may write the information on a map then take it with you to help locate graves. Some cemetery rows in each section will be labeled to further assist with location. The directories are still being reviewed for accuracy, so if you notice any errors please notify a staff member or leave a note in the Comment Box attached to the directory for Section 3.

Cemetery staff may be available to provide assistance at the cemetery on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day Weekend. When at the cemetery, we are happy to help with locating graves, donation of money for baby markers, and to assist if you want to buy a lot, columbarium niche, or spot on the memory wall.

We hope you have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!

The cemetery office is located inside the Fir Street entrance gates. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please contact Janey Miller at (208) 324-6645 or jeromecemetery@gmail.com.

Spring is Here at Jerome Cemetery

The first mowing is done, the sprinklers are ready to go…and spring is here at the Jerome Cemetery! Along with the coming of spring, we have some staffing changes to announce. Kellee Traughber, the Jerome Cemetery Clerk, has retired after many years of exemplary service. She looks forward to spending more time with her husband and family, gardening, summer camping, and enjoying her chickens.

Our new Clerk is Janey Miller. Janey is a long-time resident of Jerome, and brings her love of local history, accounting skills, and Spanish fluency to the cemetery. We are excited to have her in the office and look forward to her serving the community from our on-site office at the cemetery.

Thanks to donations by generous locals, many baby markers were made this winter. They are now being placed on unmarked baby graves, and many more are needed. The cost for a baby marker is $25 each, and donations may be sent to Jerome Cemetery, PO Box J, Jerome, ID 83338. With the donations the cemetery staff purchases materials and makes the small markers at the cemetery. Thank you to the cemetery staff for their commitment to this project!

When you visit the cemetery, if you notice a headstone is not level or a grave needs some maintenance, please bring it to our attention. There is a Comment Box on the Section 3 Directory near the flagpole where notes may be left for the staff. Please also be reminded that if you have a bush or tree on the grave of your loved one, you are responsible to see that it gets trimmed this spring if needed.

There are many options for burial at Jerome Cemetery. The cemetery offers full-size lots for standard burial, smaller sized cremation lots, cremation niches for above ground interment, and a memory wall for names of loved ones not buried in the cemetery. Plan ahead…your loved ones will appreciate it!

The office at the cemetery is located inside the east cemetery entrance gate. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please call Janey Miller at (208) 324-6645.
